First Brevet

I’ve signed up for my first Brevet!  It will be a 200k January 10th on the Natchez Trace.  Distance cycling is something that has held my interest for as long as I’ve been into bikes, so I’m really excited to finally make the leap.

I’m not aware of any other randonneurs in this area (the is actually based 2 hours north of here),  so getting local advice is not easy.  I have however been reading as much as I can on the internet, and I’ve had a copy of The Complete Book of Long-Distance Cycling for about a year now.  I’m pretty certain I can do this.

Most of my free time right now is dedicated to training for the St Judes marathon in December, so I’ll have a solid month to really focus on the brevet once that is over.  I plan to fit in some rides as I can before that though.  I already ride at least 50 miles weekly, almost always more thanks to being car-free, so I think I have a good base on which to build.

Tips and encouragement are greatly appreciated!
