How cold is too cold?
Posted: December 10, 2009 at 11:20 pmI was checking the weather tomorrow, much to my dismay, it will be in the mid 30’s for my morning commute. I managed to tough it out all last winter, but then it never gets much colder than this. There’s also no real snow to speak of. I’m not sure if I could stand it any colder though.
How about you, how cold does it have to get before you’ll hang up the bike and go to work some other way?

The coldest it ever got in Vancouver during the daytime since I lived here was about -8 C (17.6 F), and that was a rough ride… but at the time I only lived 4 mins from work, but even that required wearing a balaclava due to the harsh wind that day. I’d do it again if it got that cold again.

Riding in the cold is fun with the right gear and clothes. See:
